You must have heard the saying you are what you eat. This manifests itself by affecting your skin by stretching, darkening and other health conditions. For a healthy looking skin, a balanced diet is a must. A diet rich in Vitamin A, anti-oxidants, and essential fatty acids is going to work wonders for your skin.
We still have a choice as to what we buy and permit our children to wear. Yes, like all “no’s”, it can be a battle. “All the other kids wear this, etc. etc.” Maybe this could open a discussion with your daughters about why they want to dress that way with so many options. Who is it for? What does it do for you? How does it make you feel, and are there other ways to feel that way? Again, even though Halloween is a time for costumes, “How will you be perceived, and is that okay with you?” Just because Halloween is over, the visual remains – sometimes even in digital pictures that can end up anywhere.
By 2010, more doctor fish spas started in China, Hainan, Belgium, South Korea, Netherlands, Hungary and Singapore. India, Thailand, Slovakia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Philippines are other countries which came up with this concept. Romania and Bucharest also emerged with this technique of spa treatment.
Some aspects of beauty standards have changed, but not much. We do see more black models and beautiful black women, but when you look at the majority of the more famous ones, (Tyra, Halle, Janet, Vanessa Williams, Beyonce, a few of whom have had plastic surgery, on their noses and other body parts), you can see straight away that they have many Caucasian attributes: small, pinched noses, lighter complexion, lighter eyes, straight, lightly colored hair. It is rare that you will see a model with very dark skin, a tight afro, wide, round, larger nose, and full, large lips. Flip through any issue of Vogue or Glamour and look for that image I just described. Then look for the first image I described.
First, you need to bring up your basal metabolic rate. This is the rate by which your body burns calories. The way to do this is to change your eating habits from three full meals a day to around five or six smaller meals. Do not wait too long for your next meal because all it does is slow down your metabolic rate, making you hungrier and lose fat more slowly. Needless to say, skipping meals is a no-no.
I recall at some point noticing that although I didn’t like how i looked in the mirror or pictures at the current time, sometimes I looked back at pictures from the past and now liked how i looked. Progress. At least my poor beauty and body was becoming a healthy beauty and body about some pictures from my past.
This is a challenge but it is also a critical point in the lesson of life. Whether you believe that you are spiritual being having a short term (say 100 years) physical experience or whether you believe that the ‘here and now’ is all that there is, it behooves you take care of your physical body. The bible speaks of the body as the temple of the Lord. But, even if you feel that your body is your body and nobody else’s, it would be smart to take good care of yourself.
